A layer of shredded wheat, shredded fillo, or vermicelli noodles forms the foundation of kunafa. This bottom layer is topped with either clotted cream or cheese. A second layer of dough is added, followed by nuts or fruit. Although the kunafa is baked until golden brown, many people still fry the dough in butter before assembling their masterpiece. After cooking, syrup (flavoured with rose or orange blossom) or honey is added, and it is frequently topped with nuts or pistachios. We have over 50 different varieties of Kunafa. It all comes down to your preferences.
