With the new investment foodpanda is aiming to continue its global ambitions and roll out to over 40 markets by the end of Q1. Last year, foodpanda expanded into 20 more countries and launched a mobile app for iOS and Android, which is currently one of the leading food delivery apps worldwide. Following its growth strategy, foodpanda expands its services into eight more countries including Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tanzania and Uganda in early 2014.

-  A quarter million downloads in less than three months

-  Number one food app in eight countries

19th April, 2013: Eleven weeks after launch, Foodpanda is listed as the number one food app in eight countries; listed below e.g. in Pakistan, Indonesia. Further it takes second place in four more countries. Overall, Foodpanda is in the top ten in 20 countries (as of 16th April, 2013).

Foodpanda’s mobile app expanded to 23 countries in the last month and is available for Android and iOS. It is the fastest way to order food with a smartphone or tablet: specify your local area and the app lists all restaurants available nearby, providing the greatest variety of different cuisines. After placing an order, the user receives a notification with all order details and the expected delivery time.

On a Saturday afternoon in Pakistan, dozens of teenagers and young families stand in line at an upmarket Karachi mall, waiting to order burgers at the latest fast-food store in town.

“I’ve been coming here every alternate day for the past month to see if it’s opened yet or not,” Hana Khan, consultant for restaurant delivery website foodpanda, said at the Jan. 5 launch of Fatburger, a Beverly Hills, California-based hamburger chain that also operates in 14 countries outside the U.S. Within two hours of the doors opening, all 130 seats inside were taken and dozens of people were waiting at the ordering counter.
